What's going on with hooking in this game ?
I'm playing online coop against the CPU and (maybe it's my settings) but the cpu is constantly penalized because he hooks and hooks and hooks again. So we spend half the game on the powerplay. I just tried a exhibition game on default all-star preset and got 2 powerplays in the first 5 minutes . Both hooking calls. It's even more frustrating because hooking has been pretty much eliminated in the real game. I'm about to disable the penalties. I tried to reduce the slider to around 35 but it didn't seem to make much difference. I also reduced the cpu def aggressiveness slider to about 35. Of course I could set the hooking penalty slider to zero but that would just eliminate the calls not the hooking. Right now it's pretty easy to draw a hooking call. Just skate in front of the cpu player and he will hook you pretty much every time. So what's the solution ? -------------------- |

Have you tried reducing the stick lift frequency slider?

The hooking after the whistle is so annoying, most of the time the calls after the whistle are not needed and look stupid because they come at times when they just shouldnt happen.
This has to be eliminated for next year because they seem to happen far to frequent even with the cpu penalty slider and stick lift turned low. -------------------- |

Increase stick lift effectiveness and you'll get less hooking/tripping penalties.

I think stick lift effectiveness up and stick lift freq up helps. I put D AGGR to 0 and they still hook. As of now it can be reduced but its still pretty prevalent.

QUOTE(Pengman19 @ Jan 28, 2010 - 11:08 PM) Peng mate i am talking about after the whistle when your goalie has the puck and your dman is just standing there try to hook thin air, it looks horrible and there isnt a need for it. I have tried nearly everyone's sliders and it happens regardless of the adjustments. -------------------- |

As for after the whistle nonsense, yes, I agree with you it'd be nice if this could be fixed next year. -------------------- XSHL Season 1 [NHL2K3]: Predators (9-4-0) Won Championship

QUOTE(Parkinson @ Jan 28, 2010 - 05:45 PM) What's going on with hooking in this game ? Anyone remember the tons of interference calls from NHL 2K6 or (2K7) ? It seemed that if you set the interference slider halfway, there were 5-10 interference calls every period. That's because the CPU was improperly programmed to hit players who didn't have the puck. Now, they ARE very strict in the real NHL when it comes to hooking, but the CPU controlled players should be programmed to be more positional, and go stick on stick / stick on puck and not so much stick on body. Again, the penalty system and penalty variety in 2K hockey needs a serious upgrade. |
